WICKED Introduces D-Scriptive, I-Caption and ShowTrans at the Orpheum Theatre
State-of-the-art services provide scene-by-scene information for hearing and sight challenged and multi-lingual commentary for non-English speaking audiences. The San Francisco company of WICKED is now offering D-Scriptive, I-Caption and ShowTrans, new state-of-the-art services that provide scene-by-scene dialogue and commentary of the production for hearing challenged patrons (I-Caption), sight challenged patrons (D-Scriptive) and translations for non-English speakers (ShowTrans) in Spanish, Japanese, French, and Portuguese. D-Scriptive, I-Caption and ShowTrans are now available at all performances of WICKED. More than a word-for-word translation, these three services give patrons the actual dialogue, as well as continual plot and descriptive information that enable them to follow the action, intention, humor and emotion of the show. D-Scriptive, and I-Caption are available for the hearing and sight challenged free-of-charge. ShowTrans multi-language commentary may be rented for $10 per ear receiver, cash only.
All devices are available in the Orpheum Theatre lobby once the house opens prior to each performance on a first come, first served basis. Each device requires leaving a piece of identification as a security deposit. The first piece of ID requires a home address (passport, driver’s license or state ID card). Additional devices may be secured with the same but separate type of ID required for the first device or a credit card. If further information is needed, patrons may call 415-551-2027.
Listening Devices
Each theatre has infrared listening headsets available for the hearing impaired free of charge on a first come, first served basis. One piece of ID with current address (driver’s license, state ID) is required as deposit for one headset; additional headsets for the same individual require one of the following credit cards: VISA, Mastercard, American Express or Discover Card. They are available: at the Orpheum, from the kiosk to the left inside the main lobby; at the Golden Gate, from the kiosk next to the “enter left” staircase; and at the Curran, from the kiosk next to the “enter right" staircase.
Disabled Seating
There are two types of Accessible seating in the theatres, all on the main floor. There are no elevators to service the upper theatre levels. Patrons who are unable to do stairs may purchase Limited Mobility Orchestra seats. For Accessible and Limited Mobility patrons, two tickets may be purchased, for one Wheelchair or Limited Mobility patron and one companion, at the lowest regular price. Larger parties should inquire about special arrangements. Accessible or Limited Mobility tickets are available at Ticketmaster Online, Ticketmaster Charge-by-phone (415) 512-7770, by mail, at Ticketmaster Ticket Centers or the theatre Box Office.
